Webster University, founded in 1915, is a tier-one private institution with its home campus in St. Louis, Missouri, and a dynamic network of international campuses in North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. These include both metropolitan and military campuses and highly reputable distance learning programs. Webster has operated a campus in joint partnership with the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) for more than a decade, and also operates a campus in Chengdu as well as a program in Beijing, and previously offered the MBA in Shenzhen, China.  The business degrees of the George Herbert Walker School of Business and Technology are accredited by the ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs) as well as by the North Central Higher Learning Commission.

Begin "Business Terminology and Culture" Session

Session will include key topics for success in conducting business in the USA, common business terminology, and more.

Continue with "Business Terminology and Culture"

 

3:00-5:00

Computer lab and/or library research

Students will complete pre-work for Tuesday sessions. A lab space or classroom will be provided for this purpose.

     

Day Two

Introduction to Business

Session to cover overall broad view of business subjects, how they interact, and key ideas for businesses to thrive in today's global environment.

Introduction to Organizational Behavior

 

4:00-5:00

Computer lab and/or library research

Students will complete pre-work for Wednesday sessions. A lab space or classroom will be provided for this purpose.

     

Day Three

Introduction to Managerial Economics

Key economics principles will be overviewed

Managerial Accounting

Students will have an interactive session with discussion of managerial accounting and current trends in accounting for businesses

     

Day Four

Career Strategies Workshop

Students will work with trained placement coordinators to take an individual assessment, followed by discussion activities to analyze the results and interpret how individual results could impact career search and management strategies

Corporate Visit

Students will have the opportunity to tour a local business enterprise and to meet with executives for a discussion. Upon return to campus, students will meet to debrief the visit.

Introduction to Finance

Depending on finance level of group, we may focus on general principles, or move into a more advanced topic such as compensation or mergers and acquisitions, for example. We can assess once we meet with the group.

Students will have the opportunity to tour a local business enterprise and to meet with executives for a discussion. Upon return to campus, students will meet to debrief the visit.

Visit Business Incubator sector, St. Louis

This session will include visit to incubator and will build on social entrepreneurship session.

An interactive session with case work will discuss anti-counterfeiting partnerships between the US and China
